Artist Statement:

Music is the Universe singing. By tuning into the song, we then become one with the infinite manifestations of reality. My role as a musician is to be a sympathetic being to the divine voice, so that I may grace others with universal resonance. My aim in this lifetime is to raise peace, consciousness, and awareness through music.

On Music:

I see music as an objective presence in the universe that requires a musician to act as an interface to allow music's presence to exist on earth. Once music comes into empirical existence, an audience is necessary to complete the triad of creation: active (musician), passive (audience), and neutral (music). With this in mind, I view my performances and productions as a co-creation between myself, the audience, and music. When this harmony of three is achieved, the roles of active, passive, and neutral become one and music comes to life.

Yoga and Music:

Playing for yoga classes is one of my favorite musical experiences. It allows me to find a deep sensitivity to the energy and flow of the class that enables me to support the class and teacher, rather than call attention away from practice. the function of this music is to support the space and keep the attention directed inward.

Your Body as a Sacred Instrument:
Opening the Third Ear

Everything in the universe is in motion, which means everything has a specific frequency and rhythm. By learning to hear and feel our own unique inner frequencies and rhythms, we can then tune ourselves to the music of the universe. When we are in tune, we become open channels to the universal sound that is the fabric of all existence.

Through the practice of music, we are able to tune our attention, awareness, and consciousness to the inner music that is universally present. When we are in tune with ourselves, we are in tune with the universe and we then live in harmony.

Yoga of Music will offer the practitioner techniques to develop deeper levels of awareness through the practice of music. We will explore how to establish a musical practice using techniques such as chanting, mantra, breathing, divided attention, movement, meditation, and other familiar yogic practices. In addition, the participant will learn how to find their own inner frequencies and how they correspond to their chakra system.
